DIGHA-THE BRIGHTON OF THE EAST

                 Digha is a sea facing town situated in the southern part of West Bengal, India. This town faces the Bay of Bengal in the south. It is located in the district of Purba Mednipur in West Bengal. It is one of the most famous tourist destinations in West Bengal.
 As the nickname suggests, Digha is quite similar to the town of Brighton situated in South East England. Digha is a place with moderate climate, medium rainfall, divine and mouth watering seafood, beautiful sunset at the massive beaches and amazing tourist facilities. Its location is 21038’18”N and 87030’35”E. 
The main languages spoken by the people of Digha are Bengali and English. The Mohona International Fish Market is situated close to Digha. Tourists normally visit Mohona Fish Market during the rainy season as during that time, the fishermen have a chance of getting a lot of fishes. There are a lot of different types of hotels and resorts to book near the beach or within the town.
Routes to Digha: There are many train routes running between Digha and many important parts of West Bengal including Sealdah, Howah, Mecheda, Puri in Odissa, New Jalpaiguri and many more other stations.
There are a lot of bus routes running from Digha to various parts of West Bengal. The buses stop at many important bus stops such as Kolkata, Burdwan, Asansol, Garia and many more. There are many cab and taxi services running between Digha.
Tourist places in and near Digha: There are a number of interesting places to visit in Digha. Many travelers often call them the ‘must visit’ places of Digha. Some of them are:
  1)            Amravati Park and Lake.
  2)            Marine Aquarium and Regional Centre.
  3)            New Digha Sea Beach.
  4)            Old Digha Sea Beach.
  5)            Digha Science Center.
