‘P’ FOR ‘POLLUTION’ MUST BE ‘S’ FOR ‘STOPPED’

P’ FOR ‘POLLUTION’ MUST BE ‘S’ FOR ‘STOPPED’
BY-Antarjit Das

India, a land of diversity, culture and technology, has been attacked by one of the various problems of the world, POLLUTION. It is hard to stop, but not impossible. Three main types of pollution are affecting us- Water Pollution, Noise Pollution and finally, the most dangerous one, Air Pollution. Not only in India, but also many other countries of the world are affected by pollution. I think, by a couple of centuries, it is going to affect the whole of our planet Earth.
This year, the capital of India, New Delhi has become the most polluted city of India. Many people of India are suffering from cancer, not because of taking tobacco and cigarettes, but because of inhaling polluted air, full of smoke and dust and carbon. The polluted air goes into our lungs and shrinks the capacity of the lungs.

.The same thing also happens when we take tobacco or cigarettes. Kokrajhar, the place where I currently live, has also experienced the same problem. The day after Diwali, in the morning, I noticed a huge covering of fog and mist. But soon after that, I realized that the foggy thing was not anything but a huge pile of smoke and dust. Last afternoon, in the Diwali, I didn’t burst any firecrackers, because I knew the consequences of doing that. At least I can satisfy myself that it was not my fault. I think it is the fault of the people who had burst a lot of crackers last afternoon. There are also some people, who even burst crackers worth almost INR 1,00,000.

I think we, as a citizen of India, should try to minimize the use of fireworks. If we use the amount used in fireworks in planting tree saplings, then the world would be better place to live in. In this way, we do three things- save our mother nature, save us and save our next generations too.

Since, the air pollution has been increasing day by day, the Indian Government has also made many arrangements to decrease the pollution level in India. Some of them are…
·        The day after Diwali, the Government has made arrangements to spray water in the cities that have a high pollution level. The water is sprayed in many ways such as using fire trucks, etc. I think the most efficient way possible could be using of planes that are mostly used for spraying pesticides in huge fields. They have a huge inbuilt liquid container where the liquids like pesticides are stored. If we put water in that container then we might be able to spray water all over the city.
·        A new invention has been built to use the air pollution in a unique way. It is known as the ‘Kallink’. The smokes from different vehicles are also increasing the pollution level of India. The ‘Kallink’ is a machine that can convert the smoke of different vehicles into powdered carbon.

·        The powdered carbon is then treated with different chemicals to create a liquid that can be used as ink for drawing and also writing. The ink is mostly black in color. This ink has been used widely by many famous artists of India for drawing and sketching purposes.

Excessive Noise Pollution is also a very big problem in our country. Loud horn sounds from the vehicles, construction works, high frequency sound from music players, etc are also affecting our daily life-style in some way.

. There are many consequences of creating Noise Pollution. Some of them are listed below:-
·        Excessive Noise Pollution can impact our sense of hearing. There are many cases found where people have lost their sense of hearing due to exposing their ears to very high frequency sounds.
·        Excessive Noise Pollution can lead to distraction of mind while we’re studying for examinations or doing some other important work.
·        Excessive Noise Pollution can also affect our ability to keep patience.

We all now know that what can be the effects of creating Noise Pollution, but how can we actually deal with it???Well, I think everyone knows that bursting of crackers results in Air Pollution but it also results in massive amount of Noise Pollution. Exploding Fireworks can create a very high frequency sound. So that concludes that minimizing the use of fireworks can help us to deal with two most dangerous pollution types- Air Pollution and Noise Pollution. Other than that, we should also try to minimize the use of car horns. Only when is necessary to do it, we should blow a car horn. It will help a lot to decrease the Noise Pollution in India.

Water is one of the most important resources that humans need for survival. It is said that a human can live for around 1 month without food, but he/she cannot survive for more than a week without water. Then why do we cause such deadly pollution to happen in our Earth???I mean WATER POLLUTION. It affects one of the most important resources required for mankind to survive. Most of the factories throw their waste materials and harmful chemicals into the water present in rivers and lakes. Most of them do this because they don’t know where to dispose the waste. The factories dispose harmful chemicals into the water and it also impacts the aquatic life present in that particular water source. The river ‘Mithi’ of Maharashtra has experienced such kind of catastrophe. There are some factories around the river which are disposing their harmful chemicals and other waste into the “used-to-be beautiful” river. The aquatic life there is almost destroyed. The river now looks nothing more than a drainage canal. Many junkyards and landfills now have formed on the river bank.

We should try to conserve water as much as possible and stop the water pollution from affecting our environment. Imagine a world without pure water, where even the oceans and all the rivers and the lakes only have impure water full of carbon and harmful chemicals, etc. We would have survived for more than a couple of days.
Due to advancement of technology across the world, the pollution level of the world is now slowly decreasing down. As I have already said, the ‘Kallink’ is contributing it’s best to control pollution in India. It is helping to recycle so much of smoke and carbon. There are many people who are trying to purify the polluted air. A Dutch Company, Roosegarde Studios has created an air purification tower, also known as the Smog-free tower, which has the ability to suck the polluted air in to the tower and then release clean, fresh and non-polluted air. Rossegarde Studios has setup its first tower near Rotterdam.
Many scientists and engineers have been working on creating eco-friendly cars and other vehicles which shall release comparatively lower amount of smoke than other cars. Electric cars are recently ruling the streets through their high speed, horsepower, power and also through their eco-friendliness. Since, these cars work on electricity, they don’t release any smoke at all. Nowadays, TESLA has become one of the largest car manufacturing company, that deals with the manufacturing and selling of electric vehicles.

The highly polluted surroundings have been slowly impacting our lives in a negative way. But we can actually prevent this from happening. By planting trees, we can increase the oxygen level of the Earth. Also through the above technologies, we can prevent the Earth from dying through pollution. So, stay fit, stay healthy and stay a hundred miles away from pollution…
