About:
Kolkata is a vast district in the West Bengal state of India. It is the capital city of West Bengal. Its former name was Calcutta which was also the capital of India. Kolkata is situated on the banks of the Hugli River and about 47 miles away from the western Bangladesh border. Its location is at 22.5726 o N and 88.3639 o E. The Port Of Kolkata is the oldest port among all the ports in India. After Mumbai and Delhi, it is third most metropolitan district in India.
Bengali is the official language in the district. Its official flower is the Night-flowering Jasmine and the official bird is the White Throated Kingfisher. The people in the city have a huge attraction to football and other sports too. People lived in Kolkata for more than 1500 years, as the archaeological sources suggests.

Routes to Kolkata:

 Kolkata has a wide range of cars, buses, cabs, taxis, trains, airplanes and metro rails running throughout the state.
 The Kolkata Metro Rail System is the oldest and the first metro rail system in India. This metro system, adopted at around 1984, is the only underground locomotion system in West Bengal.
The city of Kolkata has a wide network of Railroads. Kolkata is linked with many states in India like Delhi Assam, etc via railroads. Special Trains like the Rajdhani Express, the Garib Rath, The Shatabdi Express and many more trains have their stoppage in Kolkata.
Buses are the most common modes of transport in Kolkata. Kolkata is serviced by the Calcutta State Transport Corporation which provides long distance bus routes. The city has a large network of roads. The National Highway 34 runs across the city, connecting it with different parts of the state and country.
The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport is the largest airport in the state and the only airport in Kolkata, connecting the world with Kolkata.
The Port of Kolkata, is the oldest running port in India. This port services people to many places including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. There many cargo boats and ferry services running along the Hugli River.
The city has many trams running along the streets of Kolkata. Trams are also one of the important sources of locomotion in the city.
